Heritage Gallery
MacNamara Alumni Center
University of Minnesota

The University of Minnesota ranks among the most prestigious in the United States, with it's strong tradition of education and public service. A major research institution with scholars of national and international reputation. Local politicians, academicians, and business people joined with the University to create the Heritage Gallery located in the McNamara Alumni Center/University of Minnesota Gateway. The Gallery serves, as a major entryway to the University of Minnesota, is home of historical artifacts and biographies, and highlighted by the beautiful life size, art glass of famous alumni and students of today.

Amri Studio created exciting full-scale etched glass portrait panels. Depicted are internationally recognized famous Minnesota University alumni. The life size panels of Garrison Keillor famous writer and radio personality, Norman Borlaug winner of the Nobel Peace prize for the development of the dwarf spring wheat strain, Earl Bakken the developer of the heart pace maker, Olympics Gymnastic winners, influential politicians, and others stand as dividers for sections of the center.

Amri Studio also depicted a lively and varied group of portraits from Minnesota's current student body.

In most cases for all these portraits Wallach Studio artists developed and illustrated full body portraits from only a partial head shot or bust of the subject. Studio models posed for various poses and body parts in costume to complete each image.

All of these imposing and interesting personalities stand in friendly postures as transparent room divider panels throughout the vast gallery, peopling and humanizing the space in a highly invitational way.
